As of 2024, the Philippines is divided into 18 regions. Seventeen of these are mere administrative groupings, each provided by the president of the Philippines.

The country is divided into 17 administrative regions, divided into 79 provinces, 115 cities, 1499 municipalities and 41,969 barangays 2 ( Figure 1).
