A sequence is monotonic and bounded if it consistently increases or decreases (monotonic) and all its terms are confined within a specific range (bounded) . For example, the sequence 1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, ... is both monotonically decreasing and bounded between 0 and 1.

Introduction. Monotonicity and boundedness are two very strong characteristics in the context of testing convergence and divergence of real sequences.
If the sequence f ( n ) = x n is monotonic, then it is bounded. But a bounded sequence cannot be a monotonic sequence.
