The basin soils are mainly sandy and clayey , with clay proportions being higher in the northern and central parts of the basin, i.e. Oubangui, Sangha, Cuvette Centrale and higher sand proportions in the southern parts, i.e. Kasai, lower parts of Upper Congo and Lomami and Lower Congo.
