The theory behind the law of continuity is that people usually perceive objects so that a series of visual elements belong together—and form a continuous line or pattern . This is true even if some parts are missing or obscured, and this principle is closely related to the concept—or Gestalt law—of closure.
The Gestalt Principle of Continuity states that we are more likely to see continuous and smooth flowing lines rather than broken or jagged ones.
