While the 400 level is fully covered, you're not out of luck in the 300 level. In fact, most fans don't know that roughly 50% of the seats are actually covered.
During a Cubs day game, shade is available in the terrace level back from the field. The 3rd base side offers more shaded rows than the 1st base side.

Amazing view and comfortably in the shade all game. Will have foot traffic blocking the view in between innings, but this seat is well worth it.
