In 1933, the 21st constitutional amendment repealed Prohibition. Before 1920, the legal drinking age in Massachusetts was 17. The 21st Amendment raised the legal drinking age to 21 (the legal age at which an individual could vote). In 1971, the 26th Amendment was ratified, lowering the voting age to 18.
