Nearly one in five cars sold in 2023 was electric. Electric car sales neared 14 million in 2023, 95% of which were in China, Europe and the United States.

A total of 14,2 million new Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) were delivered during 2023, an increase of +35 %.

Electric car sales were more than 20% higher in 2023 compared to 2022 and reached almost 3.2 million. In the EU, that number was around 2.4 million.
