Amir Khusrau (1253-1325 AD) was one of the most celebrated Sufi poets in the Indian subcontinent. Often referred to as the "Father of Urdu Literature", he was a prolific writer who contributed immensely to the development of Hindavi - one of the predecessor dialects of modern Urdu.
