History of Merrifield, Virginia In 1749, a group of Englishmen led by Thomas Walker formed the Great Bridge Company to settle the land . The company imported families from England and put them up in log cabins. By the time Walker died in 1837, the settlement had been renamed Merrifield.
Merrifield is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 20,488 at the 2020 census.
