Wrap the bitter end of the line around the railing. Next, flip the end of the line back over the railing once more, leaving slack to pull a loop through. Pull a bite in the rope through the slack and cinch down, pulling the knot tight. The slip hitch is easy to release by pulling the bitter end of the line.
