In this third of Second Isaiah's servant songs, the servant talks about what happens when we grow in knowledge of the Lord's ways.

It describes the servant's suffering at the hands of his enemies. This theme is directly related to the servant's calling and message described in verses 4–5.

The servant announces his mission and reports the suffering that it brings. Nevertheless, because of God's help, he is confident that he will endure.
