7 [But Jeremiah said] O Lord, You have persuaded and deceived me, and I was persuaded and deceived; You are stronger than I am and You have prevailed.

For thus says the Lord, 'Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; they will fall by the sword of their enemies while you look on.

The LORD is with me as a dread champion [one to be greatly feared]; Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not overcome [me].

He says, "You resemble My war-club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, And with you I destroy kingdoms.

O Lord, you have enticed me, and I was enticed; you have overpowered me, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughing-stock all day long; everyone mocks me.

But the LORD is with me as a dread champion [one to be greatly feared]; Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not overcome [me].

The LORD himself has said, 'I am going to make you a terror to yourself and to your friends, and you will see them all killed by the swords of their enemies.

The prophecy dates from after 605 BC, when Nebuchadnezzar defeated Egypt and made the Babylonian (Chaldean) empire dominant in Syria and Palestine.

Jeremiah was beaten and had to endure painful public disgrace. He wasn't only regarded as a false prophet, but surely also as a traitor.
