Jesus completed the task set before Him. He voluntarily chose to sacrifice Himself, knowing His death would pay the penalty for our sin.

Jesus' death is good news because there is no suffering that God cannot redeem, and there is no sin that can stop God's love for you in Christ.

Christ had already offered a powerful prayer of pardon for His murderers, and a precious promise of assurance to the repentant, dying thief.
