The spotted salamander or yellow-spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) is a mole salamander common in eastern United States and Canada . It is the state amphibian of Ohio and South Carolina. The species ranges from Nova Scotia, to Lake Superior, to southern Georgia and Texas.
The yellow-spotted salamander, known locally as fei, has a total length of 158–189 mm (6.2–7.4 in) in males and 138–180 mm (5.4–7.1 in) in females. References. |
