Re: Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste in terminal In gnome-terminal you can go to Edit - Preferences - Shortcuts, click on the desired "Shortcut Key" and press a new key combination . CTRL-C is used to interrupt a running process as t42 mentioned, so that particular combo is standard and critical.
