To be eligible to become an LPC Associate in Texas, you must have graduate degree in counseling or a counseling-related field from an accredited program.
Texas LPC licensure requires a passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification and the Texas Jurisprudence Exam.
In addition, Texas requires a passing score on the state licensure examination (the National Counseling Examination, NCE), prior to applying for licensure.
(a) All applicants for LPC licensure must complete supervised experience acceptable to the Council of 3,000 clock-hours under a Council-approved supervisor.
This is 3,000 hours of supervised post-graduate-degree experience completed over at least 18 months, including 1,500 hours of direct client counseling contact.
