32They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid.

Big idea: suffering and sacrificial service is the path to greatness in the kingdom – not self-seeking and self-promotion.

This passage plays a key role in the Gospel according to Mark's understanding of why Jesus dies and what his death means.
