This evangelist begins with the account of Christ's parentage and birth, the ancestors from whom he descended, and the manner of his entry into the world.

A young girl who was so pure, so righteous, that God chose her above all others to be the vessel through which His Son should be brought forth into the earth.

It was necessary to state that the genealogy that followed was that of Jesus the Messiah, the true “anointed” of the Lord.

This is the record of the lineage of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob.

The question remains as to why Joseph did not have sexual intercourse with Mary until after Jesus was born, and the answer is both simple and profound.
