A car will not be an advantage. You probably will not use it while you are at/in Bellagio. The roads up the Bellagio peninsula are rumored to be inconvenient.

Coming from Milan, I'd say the easiest AND fastest route to Bellagio would be a train from Milano Centrale to Varenna (just across the Lecco leg from Bellagio).
