The DPhil is an advanced research degree for qualified students who are ready to begin thesis work in the field of general linguistics.

The Faculty of Linguistics offers graduate study through its taught Master's courses (one-year MSt and two-year MPhil) and its doctoral research degree (DPhil).

Applicants are expected to have a background in Linguistics comparable to Oxford's M.Phil. degree in General Linguistics and Comparative Philology.
