Psalm 62:1–4 contrasts God with the foes of His people. David's confidence is expressed in quiet, assured trust in the Lord.

The silence of the soul before God is no mere passiveness. It requires the intensest energy of all our being to keep all our being still and waiting upon Him.

For God alone is our salvation and strength, He alone is our Rock of defence, our Shepherd and King, our Lord and our Life, our Way, our End, and our God.

Psalm 62 seems to come from a time of trouble, yet it asks God for nothing. It is full of faith and trust, but has no fear, no despair, and no petition.

David is “on purpose” enduring, persevering and trusting God with absolute certainty that God will answer and God will come through because it is who God is.
