Steps in the scouring process
- Set up a workspace.
- Weigh the fibers you will be scouring when they are dry.
- Calculate and weigh the soda ash and detergent.
- Wet out fibers.
- Dissolve powders and add to scouring pot.
- Add water to the pot.
- Heat bath with fiber to a boil for one to two hours.
- Cool the fiber in the scouring bath.
