Syria had 3 stars between 1963–1972, that was the baaths thing in both Iraq and Syria, both adopted the same flag to represent the union between Egypt Syria and Iraq, but that never became a reality. Syria changed the flag to 2 stars in the 80s and Iraq by adding the takbeer in the 90s .
