You can right click on the axis > edit axis and click the tick marks tab up top and change the settings to show every 1 day.

You should be able to click on the pill (on the row or column shelf) and choose "Show Header" to get the axis back.

Right-click on the column field label (it will appear as the title of the calculated field in the visualization), and select Hide Field Labels for Columns.
