During the Civil War (1936-1939), many parts of Catalonia were repeatedly bombed by Francoist aircraft. Tarragona was one of those and the city was attacked for twenty months, between 1937 and 1939 , suffering numerous deaths and serious damage to infrastructure and buildings.
